SATSANG SCHEDULE AND ITS PRAYERS (With English Meanings)

SATSANG SCHEDULE AND ITS  PRAYERS (With English Meanings)

There is a fixed Schedule of a satsang programme. It begins with two/three bhajans, followed by Pravachan (spiritual discourse) by the Guru or Acharya. In the end of the spiritual discourse, the process of meditation is explained. Thereafter two prayers, Guru Vandana, and Ish Vandana are sung aloud in one voice and in a harmonius rhythm by all those who know them by heart. Those who do not know the prayers by heart start meditating as explained. With the end of the second prayer, meditation starts. It ends when Guru or Acharya directs from the stage to end it. Meditation is immediately followed by another prayer, and two Mantras. This is followed by offering of sweets to God/Guru Maharaj which is known as Prasad Arpan (Prasad is the offering of sweets, and arpan means to offer). Prasad is distributed, while one more bhajan is sung. With the bhajan the satsang ends. This is the satsang schedule followed for large gatherings known as Bhandara where Guru is present.

In local weekly satsang programmes, no spiritual discourse is delivered. The schedule includes chronologically, one/two bhajan, two satsang prayers, meditation, another satsang prayer, mantras, prasad arpan, and in the end, reading aloud from one or two pages from any important book of Ramashram Satsang Mathura (RSM).

When practicing at home, one need not necessarily say the prayers, mantras or bhajans. One need not offer Prasad. It is only necessary to practice meditation for 15-20 minutes.

The satsang prayers are given below:

Shri Guru Vandana
(Prayer to the Guru)

Hey deenbandhu dayalu guru kehi bhanti tav guna gaun main

Tumhre pavitra charitra kehi vidhi nath kahi ke sunaun main

Jihva apavan hai meri, guru nam kaise lijiye

Mun funs raha bhav-jaal mein vah kis tarah prabhu dijiye

Dhan dhanya maya roop hai kyonkar nyochhavar kijiye

Sansar sagar mein funsa guru dhyan kaise kijiye
Tun kaise arpan kar sakoon, vah to maha paapi adham

Dhan dhanya au mun deke guru tum se nahin uddhar ham

Shraddha sumirani bhent kari main deen ho charano pada

Main patit hoon tum patit pavan, aapka hai aasra

Bhav sindhu mein hoon funs raha gurudev mujhe uthaiye

Gahi baanh deenanath apradhi ko par lagaiye

Jo deen ho charano pade he nath ve sare tare

Tera bhikhari tum bina prabhu asra kiska kare

Main deen hoon tum deen bandhu, main adham tum naath ho

Main hoon anath kripanidhan to tum anathon ke nath ho

Mata pita sut bhrat bharya koi sath na jayenge

Us paak kumbhi narak mein koi na hath batayenge

Yah soch ke tab sharan aya ab thikana hai nahin

Bas paar kar do meri nauka aur apna hai nahin
